His life during his early school years was a busy and active time, filled with sports, drama club and the debating team. Then at age 14, RPC had an accident that took his right arm and 60 percent functionality in his left arm. RPC says, “A fter my accident, there had been a temporary gap of time in which I lost confidence and hope. My parents provided me with tremendous positive motivation to lead my professional and personal life as normally as possible. After a year from my accident I decided to make a great come back story for myself.”
His comeback story started in earnest when RPC decided to further his higher education. “During my MBA at Clark University, I had to survive the rigorous schedule of an MBA program as well as doing all of my chores without any outside help. Doing the chores may look like a cakewalk to an able-bodied person, for special-needs people it is no less than climbing Everest,” he says. Additionally, RPC notes that his mid-term exams required the services of a scribe, which needed a lot of work and patience. “In spite of all of this, I passed all my exams with flying colors.” RPC’s strength and motivation helped to move him along towards the next phase of his comeback story. While still working on his MBA, he became acquainted with Resource Partnership.
“The Resource Partnership staff were very professional and seemed to know the real needs of their clients. My counselor, especially, proved to be a great help in pointing me toward the right resources and best leads,” noted RPC. “The most important part Resource Partnership played in my employment-seeking journey was to arrange a number of informational interviews for me. I am still in touch with those contacts. Resource Partnership was able to arrange my meeting with one of the high-profile partners of Deloitte & Touché who was instrumental in concluding my job search. What else can you ask for?”
Today RPC is successfully employed but still practices the job-search skills and techniques he learned from Resource Partnership. “It’s been great, the people at Resource Partnership are great and my networking contacts, established by Resource Partnership, are still active and current,” says RPC.
“I would say, there are plenty of able-disabled out there, who are simply not able to find the right kind of job-seeking infrastructure, which I was able to use through Resource Partnership. I hope in the future, Resource Partnership will have more resources to advertise its noble activity and increase awareness of its wonderful mission to every single person in America, which will put smiles on the able-disabled around us. I could not ask anymore from Resource Partnership, it has done a great favor to me,” RPC concludes.
